Ribbon Cut on New Rehab Space in EM Crowe Memorial Hospital
On September 19, 2024 – staff and community members united at EM Crowe Memorial Hospital to celebrate the newly created dedicated physio/rehabilitation space with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Members of the EM Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild and the EM Crowe Memorial Hospital Building Fund were joined by staff from the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) and the Interlake Eastern Health Foundation (IEHF) to mark the occasion.
“This space is going to make such a difference to the individuals in the community that use it,” said Karen Wood, IERHA manager home care and allied health therapy. “In the past, our team was very limited in space, often providing rehab services in hallways. This dedicated space now allows us to serve both inpatients and outpatients, significantly enhancing the care experience.”
The benefits of this new rehab area extend beyond the hospital walls. Through a collaboration with the Ashern-Hodgson Area MyHT (My Health Team), physiotherapists and rehab assistants will offer both in-person and virtual telerehabilitation services to residents of Eriksdale and the surrounding communities.
Averill Stephenson, executive director IEHF, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the EM Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild and the EM Crowe Memorial Hospital Building Fund.
“Both of these groups have been long-standing supporters, not just of the hospital, but also our personal care home and primary health centre. Their support and funding has had and continues to have a profound impact on the community and this new rehab space will aid in the recovery and healing of so many.”
