Pine Falls and area will benefit from two new blood pressure machines and the addition of a new video laryngoscope thanks to the generous donation from the Pine Falls District Health Care Foundation.
“Thanks very much to the Pine Falls District Health Foundation for your donation of these pieces of equipment,” says Dr. Ahmed Rateb, Pine Falls Hospital chief medical officer and primary care physician at the Pine Falls Health Complex, “On behalf of the medical staff thank you for this tool that helps deliver better patient care.”
The health care foundation donated over $26,000 for the purchase of the video laryngoscope that helps medical providers restore patients’ breathing in emergency situations. Pine Falls hospital emergency department is one of the busiest emergency departments in the region and sees many patients needing life-saving support like resuscitation.
The health care foundation donated just over $4,000 for two new blood pressure machines that can automatically measure both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pulse rate and the oxygen levels for both adult and pediatric patients. They also have the ability to measure a patient’s temperature and help medical providers diagnose and treat hypertension, respiratory illnesses and other underlying conditions.
“Over the years, the Pine Falls District Health Care Foundation has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to a wide variety of endeavours, with the bulk of the funding directed to the hospital and personal care home,” says Lorie Finkbeiner, chair of the health foundation. “Our mandate is to donate funds toward health-related needs in our area, and we’re pleased to be in a position to help our doctors and medical staff serve the people in our diverse community.”
