Visitors in family room and palliative care spaces at Selkirk Regional Health Centre will soon have access to a new reclining visitors chair, thanks to the generosity of Gerdau. Gerdau recently presented staff at SRHC with a cheque for $5585.00, the proceeds from their employee holiday raffle. These funds will be used to purchase a new chair.
“It is important to Gerdau to give back to our community” says Kendra Zacharkiw, HR Generalist, Gerdau. “We know that budgets ensure hospitals have the necessities, but there aren’t always enough funds for things to improve the comfort of visitors. Having a comfortable chair to rest or sleep in allows a family member to spend more time with their loved one, and that is really important for everyone involved.”
Averill Stephenson, Executive Director Interlake Eastern Health Foundation expressed how important this support is. “We are so grateful for Gerdau for making Selkirk Regional Health Centre the beneficiary of their employee holiday raffle and for the positive impact it will have for patients and family members.” says Stephenson.
